Washington Post publishes interactive report on extreme climate change hotspots in the U.S.

Monday, August 19, 2019

Why is increasing our use of solar energy so important? Because it’s a key way to reduce the carbon emissions of our electricity sector. This will let us maintain our standard of living while reducing the impact we have on our planet.

The need for climate solutions is urgent: already some spots in the U.S. are seeing the impact of a 2-degree Celsius increase in temperature since 1895. While 2 degrees may not sound like much, shifting local climate conditions by this amount can have profound impacts on extreme weather events, coastlines, ecosystems, and human health.

The Washington Post has published an excellent interactive online piece exploring what’s happening in some of the climate change hotspots in the U.S., including a few here in the Mid-Atlantic.
